In this role you will be part of a global R&D team within Transformers, powered by talented engineers located in different countries. Working in R&D will give you the possibilities to use your creativity to solve a wide spectrum of challenges. Your responsibilities
Act as reactor physics expert in all stages of reactor delivery including tender, order, R&D and failure investigations.
Running verifications using simulation tools to simulate different behaviors of the Reactors in operation
Managing technical risk for the developed solutions
Preparing reports and related documents in accordance with internal and external requirements
Provide technical support to factories in different stages of customer project execution, such as design clarification and simulation failure investigations
Act as a bridge between design and R&D trough Training design engineers and help them to be updated and utilize the latest technology developments
Experience with dielectric and magnetic modeling methods and tools is a plus
Detailed design and 3D modeling using PTC CREO is also a plus

Your background
You hold a MSc or BSc combined with work-life experience in engineering or applied physics.
You have the interest and ability to work with cross-competence topics
You have sound analytical skills, including simulation tools and preferably have experience in designing and conducting experiments.
You are a team player who enjoys collaborating with others to achieve great results
Overall understanding and domain expertise in Reactors and transformers is a plus.
Preferably you also have experience in, or ability to develop, project management and technical leadership skills
You have good communication skills and are fluent in English, both written and spoken. Swedish is a plus.

You will be part of Technology and Solutions Development, within the Power Grids division, in Ludvika. The HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 60 years and is used, among other things, to transmit power over long distances with minimal losses, using overhead lines, underground and submarine cable systems.
The Valve Development Department is a part of ABB Technology and Solutions Development in Ludvika and it is responsible for the development of semiconductor based HVDC and SVC valves. HVDC valves are used to convert AC to DC, and vice versa, and are essential for HVDC power transmissions. SVC valves are used in SVC systems, in order to support and stabilize AC systems. The Valve Development Department has around 20 employees, focusing mainly on electrical and mechanical design, and works in close collaboration with the global HVDC organization.
Your requirements
Working with power electronics in high power transmission applications, Power Grids HVDC.
Performing on a regular basis semiconductor valve calculations and simulations in order to find out voltage stresses and losses in the semiconductors and valve electronics. The theoretic calculations will be combined with high power testing in our test laboratories.
Since working with cutting edge technology, you will need to address many kinds of technical challenges.

Your background
A Master of Science in Power Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent.
Work experience from similar industries is preferable.

Preparing reports and related documents in accordance with internal and external requirements
Technical standards: Ensure that core-related processes and calculation methods are state of the art. Work with programmers to implement and test new methods in the design software.
Technical support: Support the design, manufacturing, quality and supply chain organizations with technical expertise to ensure that technical requirements are fulfilled.

Perform mechanical design for converter valve components including design calculations, preparation of design specifications and technical documents
Preparation of 3D CAD Models, drawings and BOM
Participate in various product verification tests from early prototype testing to final verification of converter valve design
This role requires a product lifecycle perspective in the design work by considering various aspects (e.g., reliability, safety, maintainability, tooling, and manufacturing requirements)

Your background
Bachelor or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering
5+ years of experience within Mechanical Design and new Product development

Understand numerical methods as applied to multi-physics problems, especially electro-thermal and fluids modelling problems including optimization methods.
Proven knowledge and experience of the following tools:
o Thermal and fluid simulations (CFD 2D and 3D, preferably Fluent)
o Knowledge of object-oriented software (preferably in VB.NET) and circuit simulation program (preferably SPICE)
Desirable to have more than 2 years of experience in power transformers design or manufacturing and working in R&D for thermal projects in transformers, including empiric validation.

A core technology expert leads activities to improve core performance, core steel utilization, and in general to improve know-how in the field of cores and magnetism. The role will work in close cooperation with experts in core steel quality and supply chain management as well as with transformer design specialists.
Your responsibilities
Magnetic simulations and calculations: Perform simulations and calculations to predict core performance. The approaches used include FEM, grid or circuit simulations, analytical modeling, and machine-learning or big data methods.
Grade testing: Propose and lead testing of new grades of core steel with an aim to improve core performance. This includes supervising lab testing, devising test protocols, working with designers to recommend design changes, and keeping up to date with the latest advances in electrical steel.
Product development: Propose improvements to the core and to core steel utilization and perform experiments to validate those improvements.
Technical standards: Ensure that core-related processes and calculation methods are state of the art. Work with programmers to implement and test new methods in the design software.
Technical support: Support the quality and supply chain organizations with technical expertise to ensure that technical requirements are fulfilled.
Technical leadership and knowledge sharing: Coach and provide support and technical advice to colleagues on core-related topics. Maintain a network of engineering professionals to share best practices across different disciplines and locations.
University liaisons: Coordinate and lead joint studies with universities to get access to state-of-the-art research.

Your background
You have a background in electrical engineering, electrotechnology or applied/theoretical physics. Preferably you hold a PhD, but a MSc combined with work-life experience is seen as equivalent

In this role you will be part of MACH Control & Protection Platform R&D department that is accountable for the development of state-of-the-art control system for HVDC and FACTS applications.
Your responsibilities
You will be responsible for the electronics components within MACH products
Work closely with product development teams especially electronics design engineers during development of new products as well as maintainance of existing products
Provide support during internal component request process and searching for suitable components as needed
Compare component specifications and data sheets to propose alternate components for further analysis
Make sure during components selection that selection process has a product life cycle perspective in line with overall lifetime expectation of the complete product
Help avoid single sourcing situations with very narrow design specifications that limit potential supplier base
You will Interface with electronics component manufacturers to get technical information regarding electronics components etc.
You will communicate and interact with internal supply chain management and electronics manufacturers regarding component related questions.
Work in interaction with a PLM system to secure correct technical component data, desciriptions, attiributes; correct environmental compliance data, and up to date technical information such as data sheets, PDNs, PCNs.

Your background
To succeed in this role, you have a deep understanding of electronics components from electronics development work and/or experience working as a component engineer in a supply chain or development organization. You have a university education preferably in electronics engineering/physics/materials science but relevant experience in component engineering tasks is the most important.
Knowledge and continuous follow-up of developments in the electronics component industry is a must for this position
Experience in search and selection of components for new designs.
Ability to prepare well-organized documentation and reports for components and LCM analysis
Ability to read and interpret circuit schematics
Experience in electronics manufacturing and component sourcing processes
For this position spoken and written skills in English are mandatory and fluency in Swedish is highly desirable

HVDC converter valves are used to convert AC to DC, and vice versa, and are essential for HVDC power transmissions. SVC converter valves are used in SVC systems, in order to support and stabilize AC systems. Work in new product development projects focusing on valve mechanical design tasks involving multi-disciplinary areas – for example heat transfer, electrical insulation, strength of materials and manufacturing technologies
Perform CAD modeling and mechanical simulations using commercial software, preferably ABAQUS/ANSYS etc. to evaluate new converter valve designs in R&D projects
Participate in various product verification tests from early prototype testing to final verification of converter valve design and simulation models
Provide support and insight to engineering teams based on design or simulations by sharing through technical discussion/ reports
Drive failure analysis, RCA (Root cause analysis), and design of experiments (DOE).

The Valve Development Department is a part Technology and Solutions Development office in Ludvika, and it is responsible for the development of new HVDC and SVC converter valves. HVDC converter valves are used to convert AC to DC, and vice versa, and are essential for HVDC power transmissions. SVC converter valves are used in SVC systems, to support and stabilize AC systems. Your responsibilities
Be part of new product development projects focusing on high power converter valves for HVDC and FACTS applications starting from idea generation, simulation, circuit design, prototyping and verification of new converter solutions
Define technical requirements and perform electrical design calculations and simulations to optimize the design. The theoretical calculations will be combined with high power testing in our test laboratories to verify the designs
Take responsibility for specification, selection, qualification and verification of semiconductors and other passive components in the valve
Specify testing requirements and participate in various product verification tests from early prototype testing to final verification of converter valve design to improve/optimize the solutions
Collaborate with cross functional engineering teams such as mechanical, system design, insulation, electronics in the design process

In this role you will be part of MACH Control & Protection Platform R&D department that is responsible for the development of state-of-the-art control system for HVDC and FACTS applications.
Your responsibilities
You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of valve electronics products which constitute the hearth of a HVDC – High Voltage Direct Current system.
The work requires deep understanding of analog and/or power electronics both theoretical as well as practical tasks. Requirement management, development of design specifications and documentation are part of the work tasks as well.
You will have the responsibility to create robust designs within the cost and time limits with a product lifecycle management perspective.
We work in a modern environment where both rapid prototyping and productification takes place. To our help we have tools and labs for the complete electronic hardware development cycle, from early prototype testing to final system verification. In this role you will be part of Technology and Solutions Development in Ludvika. The MACH Control and Protection platform R&D department is a part of Hitachi Energy, Technology and Solutions Development and is responsible for the development of state-of-the-art control system platform for HVDC and FACTS applications. The MACH Control and Protection department in Ludvika has around 80 employees, focusing mainly on Hardware and Software design working in close collaboration with global MACH C&P organization.
You will be required to take ownership in developing test specifications and test cases for newly developed products, understanding the requirements and the use cases for the customer projects. You must have a constant urge to learn and keep yourself updated about the latest technology used in the industry.
Your responsibilities
Test Environment is to be created with the components of MACH Control System in the Test Lab Facility, with Computers, Servers, Input - Output Boards and Simulation Environments.
Write Test Cases / Scenarios for verifying the functionalities of the Control System like Communication, Analog and Digital Acquisitions etc.
Execution of Test Cases, for various software and hardware releases using the developed test cases in the test lab.
Report the test execution details to the development team for further actions.
Maintain the test environment with updated software and hardware for current and future use.
Automate tests wherever possible using our test automation framework.
Lead or share other responsibilities that are specific to the integration team. Examples include lab maintenance, license management, customer support etc.

Your background
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical engineering, Electronics engineering or another related field, and have an equivalent experience.

Knowledge of graphical programming tools such as Hidraw, MACH platform, scripting languages and measurement instruments is qualifying, as is the experience of Test automation frameworks, Microsoft OS, and Microsoft Team
Foundation Server or Azure Devops.

HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a product group in Hitachi Energy, which develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. It is also used to connect power systems.

Provide support during internal component request process and searching for suitable components as needed

Help avoid single sourcing situations with very narrow design specifications that limit potential supplier base
You will Interface with electronics component manufacturers to get technical information regarding electronics components etc.
You will communicate and interact with internal supply chain management and electronics manufacturers regarding component related questions.
Work in interaction with a PLM system to secure correct technical component data, desciriptions, attiributes; correct environmental compliance data, and up to date technical information such as data sheets, PDNs, PCNs.

In this role you will be part of MACH Control & Protection Platform R&D department that is responsible for the development of state-of-the-art control system for HVDC and FACTS applications.
Your responsibilities
You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of valve electronics products which constitute the hearth of a HVDC – High Voltage Direct Current system
The work requires deep understanding of analog and/or power electronics both theoretical as well as practical tasks. Requirement management, development of design specifications and documentation are part of the work tasks as well
You will have the responsibility to create robust designs within the cost and time limits with a product lifecycle management perspective
We work in a modern environment where both rapid prototyping and productification takes place. To our help we have tools and labs for the complete electronic hardware development cycle, from early prototype testing to final system verification. Your background

Proficiency in board bring-up and debugging skills; Experience with lab equipment and test setups for analog signal measurements; Experience on product/system verification and environmental testing
Proven understanding and real-world application of DFx (DFM, DFA and DFT); Practical knowledge in manufacturing of PCBs and PCBAs; Experience on engineering best practices related to analog/power electronics design, test, and integration
Ability to prepare well organized documentation for designs, verification/production tests and manufacturing
Knowledge of electronic hardware development life cycle and obsolescence management; Experience on working with multi-functional hardware, software, and system architecture teams

We are searching for senior data analysts who can drive innovation and solution development in HVDC Digital Analytics Team. The goal is to contribute to the development of a Power System Digital Twin to reduce system level risk by building predictive maintenance models for Hitachi Energy’s product offerings (HVDC, FACTS, AC Substation etc.).

Responsibility as Release Train Engineer (RTE):

Define and maintain the DevOps and iObeya environment together with the Digital R&D core team and define standard practices

In this role you will be part of Technology and Solutions Development in Ludvika. The MACH Control and Protection platform R&D department is a part of Hitachi ABB Power Grids, Technology and Solutions Development and is responsible for the development of state-of-the-art control system platform for HVDC and FACTS applications. Your responsibilities
Test Environment is to be created with the components of MACH Control System in the Test Lab Facility, with Computers, Servers, Input - Output Boards and Simulation Environments.
Write Test Cases / Scenarios for verifying the functionalities of the Control System like Communication, Analog and Digital Acquisitions etc.
Execution of Test Cases, for various software and hardware releases using the developed test cases in the test lab.
Report the test execution details to the development team for further actions.
Maintain the test environment with updated software and hardware for current and future use.
Automate tests wherever possible using our test automation framework.
Lead or share other responsibilities that are specific to the integration team. Examples include lab maintenance, license management, customer support etc.

Your background

HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a business unit within Hitachi ABB Power Grids located in Ludvika.?The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. As a FPGA Design Engineer, you will work on complex functions where high performance, availability and robustness are key elements. You will be part of High Voltage Products, a business unit within the Power Grids division in Ludvika. The business unit develop, manufacture and market high voltage products for HVAC and HVDC systems, such as surge arresters, breakers, instrument transformers, capacitors, cooling systems and cable accessories.

Tasks

Requirements
You hold a master`s degree in physics with specialization on electro physics or equivalent and have a few years of work experience from electrical engineering. Fluency in English is mandatory, written and spoken alike, whereas skills in Swedish are qualifying.
